Dolores Fuller: One More Chance Lord b/w My Greatest Desire

This one is a record we’ve been excited about for a while and now that the Acid Jazz subsidiary label Miles Away has released this seven inch, we’re hoping you’ll be just as excited as us with their latest offering. The seventh release for the label is just a beautiful example of a record that hits a few different genres and will leave you with a smile on your face and a good feeling for the rest of the day. Seventh heaven is appropriate on this release!

Dolores Fuller “One More Chance” is a record that combines gospel, modern soul and disco. From the opening piano riff, Fuller goes full on with this record. Her sultry and raspy lifts this track right up to the heavens. If gospel isn’t your thing, it doesn’t matter. This is a solid track that knocks from start to finish. Besides Fuller’s pipes, the group of players assembled for this track is top notch. Rounding up the well known guitarist Jonathan DuBose (The Clark Sisters) as well as bassist Stanley Banks (who played on George Benson’s “Breezin’ “) and the James Brown saxophone player extraordinaire Pee Wee Ellis (who also played on Fuller’s record God’s Love), Fuller is in good musical company. By the way, we don’t have to tell you this, but Brown was associated with some fire gospel tracks that it would do you good to search out if you’re not familiar. “One More Chance” a slow burner that soars higher and higher, a praise to the most high that you can get down to. The flip is a ballad, “My Greatest Desire” that showcases Fuller’s vocal talent even further. But the side we are playing over and over is the A, “One More Chance” is pure fire. This record is remastered and pressed in a limited edition of 500; available on May 21st via Miles Away. Listen to the record below and pre-order after the stream.
