Phi-Psonics: Mama (trio version) b/w Drum Talk

This one is for all the jazz heads out there. This one is for those who like to put the record on, light one up and get taken away. This, to us, is some spiritual jazz that not only grabs you and takes you on an eclectic journey through the cosmos, but commands you to stay in their presence from start to finish. It’s free, it’s improvised, and these West Coast brothers really know how to lay it down.

The searchers of inner and outer sonics are back with a few tracks from the Cradle Sessions available for the very first time on vinyl. Phi-Psonics are: Mitchell Yoshida (Wurlitzer 200A electric piano), Sylvain Carton (Tenor Sax), Josh Collazo (Drums), and Seth Ford-Young (Bass) and have given us really a record and sound I could listen to all day every day. Put together with Second Thought and Nightnote records, this double side of spacey jazz heat is all you need. “Mama”, the trio version is an breezy jawn, with Mitchell Yoshida fueling up heavy on early ’70s soul/ spiritual jazz vibes with Ford-Young hitting the bass heavy and Collazo keepin’ time oh so well. The flip, “Drum Talk”, has Sylvain Carton join in in this very moving over three minute piece. These are both free flowing movements that will have your mind right all the way through. This we’d pay good money to see live on a Saturday night! However, in that absence we can for sure feel the power in both of these tracks on this seven inch. A limited press with individual hand stamped sleeves, grab this one before it’s gone. Listen to both sides below and purchase after the stream.
