When you talk about true soul singers in our modern times, the name Rita Ray should be on your lips. If she isn’t, you’re missing out completely. With a near perfect release in 2019 with Our Love Will Rust, and a follow-up “Love Ain’t The Same” track earlier in 2021, she’s back with a taste of a new long player due out this November.
No greater love could lose my mind, no other man could be that kind, it’s you
Rita Ray
This Estonian siren drops her second single “No Greater Love” today and following up true Rita Ray fashion really hits the nail on the head with this mid tempo soul groover. While her older tracks really spoke to heartache, love lost, and the like, “No Greater Love” really pays homage to love, which is a beautiful thing. As she sings “no greater love could lose my mind/ no other man could be that kind/ it’s you” one would have to be a complete cynic to not feel the emotion in this song that gives some hope that’s there is someone out there for everyone. Ray is once again joined by the Pärnu City Orchestra, providing string arrangements that she wrote herself. This symphonic and cinematic component has pushed Ray into new, beautiful territory. Lush soundscapes and her velvety voice are a great match. We’re looking forward to hearing the full length, which has production by Solid Gold Sound, and promises not just her blue-eyed soul sound, but disco, classic R & B and more. More to come when the Lp drops on Funk Embassy Records in the latter part of the year. Listen to the track below and purchase it after the stream.
