Paul Nice feat. Masta Ace – BK We Don’t Play

Well look what we have here. Diggers with Gratitude Operations Manager and Slice-of-Spice head honcho Spice got at me with the freshness people. This limited edition Hip Hop vinyl release features Paul Nice and Masta Ace with cover art by the great Joe Buck. What can we not say about Paul Nice? Super DJ/ Producer, who IMHO, can not be stopped. The guy does not release junk people. From mixes like Soul on the Grill to collabs with Phil Most Chill aka Soulman to Biz Markie, and unofficial? remixes of the Beastie Boys (who doesn’t like cutting up two copies of his “Hey Ladies” edit?, I know I do!), not to mention the dope Grandmaster Flash remix, it’s an understatement to say I have dug his work for quite a while. Throw some Masta Ace in the mix and release it on a fresh 7″, and you have a party. You know FMF is all over it. Here’s some additional info about the release:

SSR-002: BK (We Don’t Play) – Paul Nice ft. Masta Ace (2001 and 2011)

“Slice-of-Spice Records is releasing a sure fire Brooklyn anthem for this summer, in the shape of a banging unreleased Paul Nice track ft. Masta Ace. The song is called “BK”, which was originally recorded in 2001, but never saw the light of day. After 10 years this track is finally getting the vinyl release this track deserves. Slice-of-Spice managed to source the DAT tape from the original studio sessions, and they’ve put it together as a high quality, limited edition 7”, that includes a dope new Paul Nice remix. This record also marks the long awaited return to the studio for Paul Nice’s fans, as he dusts down his MPC-60 and bashes out another heater. There is a Special Edition version available for this release, but you’ll have to act fast before they’re gone, as there are only 200 copies available. This version is pressed on Brooklyn Dodger Blue vinyl, and each copy is individually numbered, using a gold foil stamp press. For those who miss out, there is a standard black vinyl version available through selected retail outlets in the US, Japan, Germany and the UK. However, this is also in limited quantities, which will be hand numbered. There’s going to be no over-press, or repress of this project. This record is the first in a series of 3 limited edition 7 inch releases, on Slice-of-Spice, by Paul Nice, as a part of the Signature 7 Series, all release one month after each other, starting with SSR-002 in June.”

The next two releases will feature Biz Markie and Paul Nice, as well as Masta Ace and Guru, with more art by Joe Buck and the great EWOK. If you’re a fan of Hip Hop, sampling, good design and of these artists, you need to to get these before they are gone. No over-press or repress of this project. Get them while they are hot and before they are gone.
