The Soul Investigators – Love Hurt

It’s Summer time and a perfect time for a band like The Soul Investigators to release a new 45. Following in the footsteps of tunes from Barbara Acklin, Isaac Hayes, The Soul Runners, and Willie Mitchell among others, “Love Hurt” is some sweet instrumental Soul at its finest. The Soul Investigators stroll through this one with some easy organ and hard, yet subtle drums. This tune is perfect to start your weekend (or any other day for that matter) off with. The title says somber love song, and love may hurt, but this side kills it and begs you to go forward. It says so much more than a hurt heart. To me, it’s a love hurt heart moving on, with the world wide open. All you have to do is take those steps forward. The Soul Investigators have consistently released heavy, heavy Soul sides through their label Timmion and have changed the face of the game in some respects with their version of Soul music. As pure as the snow that falls in Finland their brand of Soul moves everyone in a different way. “Love Hurts” is some Low Rider Soul without the vocals and could have been the backing beat to any sweet Soul harmony group that never made it (and those who did too!). Summer is here and so is the Soul. Go to the link below to get your copy of this fine Soul record.
