A few weeks ago I told you about the Poets of Rhythm Anthology coming out on Daptone Records on October 1st. Let’s be real. If there were no Poets, there would be no Daptone, or any other Modern Funk and Soul label for that matter. The Poets changed the game and brought the raw Funk and Soul resurgence to the States. Many labels followed, and that, as they say, is history. This clever promo for the new record puts the best one armed DJ and MC at The House of Soul to tell you about the new record. In one arm, I mean the guy cuts records with one arm better than most DJs do with two. If you didn’t know, it’s Edan the Humble Magnificent. He straight kills the Poets’ Christmas tune, working doubles with one hand, extending the beat, and rapping about their history and the release with a mic in the other. If you don’t know your past, you don’t know your future, so listen up kids. Look out for the Poets of Rhythm Anthology out on Daptone October 1, 2013. There is one unreleased track, so hopefully there will be a 45 of that on the horizon. You never know. Stay tuned.
Keep Diggin’!
