Big Ups alumni, DJ, and producer House Shoes is at it again. He brings us over 75 minutes of original Dilla samples put together and seamlessly crafted for a project called The King James Version. This all vinyl journey of everything from Slum Village classics to Donuts beats to Frank and Dank goodness and more is guided by your captain House Shoes. It’s done tastefully, and is a perfect homage to the prolific producer by his good friend. If you are familiar with what House Shoes is all about, you know it’s basically one thing: business. The dude gets things done. He just doesn’t talk about it, he puts in work. His no nonsense approach DJing and producing has put him in the forefront of the craft.
“Mad people always talk about how much they love music but my man House Shoes is THE only one I know that consistently holds it down! His knowledge and skill cannot be questioned…basically he is the MAN! I am just the man siitin’ next to the MAN!”-Amir
For you Dilla heads, this is a special treat. All original samples from original OG vinyl, put together for your listening pleasure. When you listen to all these samples, it really gives you a better view of the massive depth that Dilla had as a producer and the spectrum of different music he could sample, loop up, and turn into gold. Redefinition Records is putting this mixtape release out on October 29th on CD and double LP black vinyl. Mixed and arranged by House Shoes and recorded by Rhettmatic of The World Famous Beat Junkies, this is a must for world wide Dilla fans and sample junkies alike. Check out the audio below.
