Today we bring you the debut, full length record from Parisian producer Around7. Fresh off an applauded success of his seven track EP on Robosoul Recordings Back To Basics, Around7 explores the art of sampling through his various influences. These influences run the gamut from Hip Hop legends DJ Premier and Dilla to further explorations in Jazz from the likes of Miles Davis, Bill Evans, and the vast catalog of Blue Note Records artists. Obviously influenced by Jazz with a Hip Hop mind set, these spacey grooves out of France are a smoker’s delight. Think after hours party meets smoke session with heavy drums. His updated version of something that may have come out on Shadow or Ninja Tune Records in the 90’s. The drums are crisp and the spacey feel throughout is really great. Around7’s music contains the spirit of the originators, and it is overly abundant in this track. His finely crafted beats give the Jazz sound an update, and easily fits into the instrumental Hip Hop or Down Tempo categories. This record is definitely one that makes you want to, in the words of Method Man: “roll that shit, light that shit, and smoke it.” The Soul On Wire LP will be released as a two part vinyl set, followed by the full digital album and is available now.
