Dusty Platter continue their output of dope seven inch records with this 45 Remix Vol. 1. This double sided heater kicks off the series with some great music as well as artwork from the undeniably talented Mr. Krum. Side A, “That’ll Never Happen”, features France’s DJ Suspect and Doc TMK, two veterans who know their way around dusty samples and deep crates. Joining them on the track is Emskee from The Good People. This dance floor filler has a heavy bongo vibe combined with tasty library samples and a live Hammond organ, a recipe cooked up for a B-Boy bouillabaisse. Delicious indeed. Reminds us of some J-Live/ Slick Rick storytelling sides that are lacking in this music atmosphere today. The flip, “Fresh” features Canadian/ German crew ASM aka A State of Mind and is produced once again by DJ Suspect & Doc TMK. The original was produced by The Jukebox Champions, and this relick by this duo is, well, a different and FRESH take on the record. Another one for the B-Boys and hip hop lovers out there, this uptempo blast of heat has some smooth key samples and tough drums throughout. All in all, the first in this series is smoking, and we have one question: When is Vol. 2 coming out?
