Gig Alert! Here’s a residency that Flea Market Funk will be involved in here in New York City that we wanted to pass along. It’s another collaboration with photographer and Dust & Grooves founder Eilon Paz to create a unique, month long diverse vinyl residency in Brooklyn. It’s an honor to be in such great company of the selectors and it looks to be a fantastic time as DJs Greg Caz, Ben “Scribe” Goldfarb, Sheila B., JTram, Sinkane, and Natasha Diggs do their own thing one Thursday a week until Feb. 5th. We will be supplying a 4 hour set of funk from the five boroughs, which will include funk and soul music from the five boroughs and tri-state area, as well as many other funky treats. Founder Paz will also be dropping the needle on some of his favorite records early in the night, so get there to hear what he’s got in his bag. It’s free, and all about good people and good music, so hope to see some people out. More details below:
“Following the success of the ‘Adventures in Record Collecting’ book, DONNA is happy to host our first Vinyl Residency curated by Dust & Grooves for the month of January.
A month long weekly DJ residency (Thursdays in January) curated by Dust & Grooves, that will bridge the gap between nerdy record collectors, their collections and the dance floor. Each evening is themed by genre, era, global region.
Donna is an intimate cafe during morning and early afternoon, a nationally ranked cocktail bar and club in the evening to late night hours. With minimal, South American themed architecture, high ceilings and support of a Klipsch sound system, the music can be heard clearly – and felt.
