Social Lovers – Enjoy The Ride

We are dancing in our office, and so is the rest of the Flea Market Funk staff as we drop the needle on this newest (and first) 12″ release from Cherries Records. Usually known for their 45 RPM and cassette outputs, Cherries has gone on to put out their first 12″ release from these West Coast groovers. After a successful run of records on their first Cherries release, the DJ favorite “Call Me Up”, The Social Lovers are back with their brand of modern funk and boogie. This time it’s a synth filled drop top ride on a Summer night with your friends. The track’s infectious beat and synths get you moving, perfect for any dance floor action. The highlight for us, is the sultry vocal stylings of Megan Doherty, who takes you on a trip to move your hips into the early morning. This side brings us back to some early Berlin type stuff, but with present day lush production and sound. The eight release from the good people at Cherries, we are looking forward to the full length of the same name that drops on January 15th. Press repeat often on this one.
