Recognize: Jazzy Jeff Is 50 And Still Killing It

Jazzy Jeff

” Yo Jeff: Rock the beat with your hands….”

Holy shit, y’all, Jazzy Jeff is 50! It seems like yesterday he and Will were doing their thing, he was making appearances on The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, and repping Philly wherever he went. Well, he still reps Philly, and of course has made quite a name for himself as a DJ throughout his career. In fact, dude is, in our opinion here at Flea Market Funk: the G.O.A.T. when it comes to a travel DJ. Bringing his own brand new funk from LA to Shanghai, Jeff can rock it like no other. Whether it’s Philly Fest or the Do Over, Jeff has proved time and time again he can do it an do it well. A guy with the old school knowledge and experience of carrying records, playing vinyl, as well as the ability to adapt to new technology like Serato from its inception, he’s the epitome of a globe trotting DJ. His video series Vinyl Destination follows him around the world and gives the viewer a peek inside the life of Jazzy Jeff. He’s a talented producer, and his Touch of Jazz production team is still cranking out gems to this day. But let’s get to Jeff as a DJ. DMC champion and straight P-A-R-T-Y rocker, he is an inspiration and not to this author and DJ, but to countless others around the world. A humble guy from West Philly who is living the life he wants, while mentoring and inspiring both old and new generations with his incredible skill. So, Jeff, we salute you. You’re 50 years old and still killing it. Thank you for all you have done in your career and Happy 50th.

Watch Jeff kill it for the induction of Grandmaster Flash, Grand Wizzard Theodore, and Grandmixer DXT to the “Guitar Centers Rockwalk.

Keep Diggin’!
