Today we have a premiere of a AA side 45 that you will definitely want to be sticking into your rotation of your 45 box. The Gene Dudley Group are back with a massive record just in time for the summer festival season, and we’re happy to feature it here on Flea Market Funk. So like Prince Jazzbo says: “Calling all dancers, let’s put on our dancing shoes and boogaloo….” You guys know the rest. The first side, “I’ve Changed” features E of Myron & E fame, and is a slow soul stepper that’s as sweet as they come. E croons his way through some summer sweetness and good luck getting this tune out of your head for a while. The flip, a cover of the Todd Terje tune “Inspector Norse” is as they say: “CHOON!” An upbeat dance floor filler, it’s driven by insane horns and a guitar hook with plenty of hard hitting drums to keep it moving. Already championed by the likes of Gilles Peterson and Terje himself, it’s sure to be a summer anthem shortly. Another sure shot from the lads over at Wah Wah 45s, look for Look out for the Gene Dudley Group’s sophomore LP, Zambidoose, dropping this July as well. So whether your road tripping to the seaside or pulling the deck chairs out in the garden, these tunes are so necessary to get you in the summertime mood. Listen to a preview of the record below:
