From their debut Invisible Joy the Polyversal Souls are preparing to blast off into orbit, spreading their universal message of music to the masses. Produced by Max Weissenfeldt (Whitefield Bros., Poets of Rhythm) and recorded at the infamous Ru-Ting Clan Sound Lab in Berlin, this debut record is a global family affair. This rocket ship of raw soul is making stops in NYC with Africa Baby Bam from the Jungle Brothers, Ethiopia with Hailu Mergia (Walias Band), and finally West Africa in Ghana with notables Guy One, Ebo Taylor’s son Roy X, and the freedom poet Y-Bayani, who is featured on this track today “Asembi Ara Amba”. A soulful, rhythm filled, track, Y-Bayani waxes poetic of heavy drums and organ, combining African sounds with its distant cousin reggae, all while keeping in S-O-U-L-ful. A perfect track for your summer night, road trip, or boat ride along the seaside. The Polyversal Souls know a riddim, and with Weissenfeldt at the helm, you know it will be funky. Fans of world music, reggae, and global soul will appreciate the rawness of these tracks. A sound that resonates world wide and lands right on your record player. The full length is available at better record stores from Philopon Records on July 6th. Check out the first video from the LP below.
