There have been some great tracks coming out of the Soulside Productions camp as of late, and this time they team up with Top Notch productions to give you soul music defined. Mississippi native Maurice Smith comes at you with the single “Can’t Fight The Feeling”. Reaching back to his gospel and soul roots he has been singing since he was three years old, Smith belts out a tune that would make his heroes proud. Influenced by everyone from Marvin Gaye to Bill Withers to Al Green, he has bettered his vocal chops by studying under the choral great Mr. James Hawkins. And it’s paid off. Smith has worked with everyone from 80’s R & B cats Tony! Toni! Tone!, Seal, LeAnn Rimes, The Mary Jane Girls, and Beyonce. “Can’t Fight That Feeling” has Motown written over it. It’s updated for the ’16 and definitely is soulful. Calling Los Angeles his home base now, he definitely has not fought the feeling of good music. Whether it;s drawn in from Detroit or deep in Mississippi, he’s putting it down on lovely. We are excited to hear some more stuff from Maurice Smith in the future.
