Our latest obsession, thanks to our main man Jim Golden over at Jim Golden Studio is the artist Mackaya McCraven. Perhaps we are a little late to the party, as this record has been out for some time, but with so much good music flying just over and under the radar, when we hear something like this, it really deserves our attention here. Mackaya McCraven, Beat Scientist, jazz drummer, and mind blower, thank you for doing what you do. It’s said that the new crop of jazz drummers are equally inspired and influenced by hip hop as they are jazz, and it’s quite evident in his music. His influences are forefront in his music, and his pedigree shows just what he’s made of. I encourage each and every one of you to read up about this extremely talented drummer, his biography, and how he got to Chicago via playing every major jazz club and festival throughout the world. This guy is the real deal, and pardon our tardiness, but it’s better late than never. In The Moment has been on repeat in the studio here for quite some time, and after hearing it, it will be for you too. This is the music that keeps us going. Mackaya, please don’t stop making music.
