Friday Feels people, and it’s courtesy of the good people at NYC Trust, and would you expect anything less than authentic sounds from a label that is called Names You Can Trust? Coming out of San Francisco, Extra Classic, who are making and recording beautiful music out of their own Nopal Recording studio. With much appreciation for vintage reggae and the sound that goes with it, they get their kicks on analog equipment, and record to tape for their extra classic sound. This sound includes the aforementioned plus an obvious West Coast psychedelic injection that is the spice in the recipe.

The spacey vocals of Adrianne deLanda are placed a top an early dancehall style, the tune is dreamy at times, with much echo and personality that let’s this record stand out in the pile of mass produced music that is thrown at us on the daily. With a definite nod to true reggae, roots, dancehall and dub, but with their own flair, if you have any doubt, check the bass line. This may be a bit out in left field than the deep funk you usually get here, we would be remiss not to highlight this special track. It is so rare that a track like this comes through, in production, and sound. The combination is perfect. The B- side is the dub in true reggae stylee, the lads at NYC Trust wouldn’t have it any other way. They are true to the roots and culture of the music. Once you get hooked on Extra Classic, you won’t turn it off. Listen to “In This Life” below.
