Oh it’s been a while but they have been busy, haven’t they? Fresh off of a ten song cover LP entitles Ten Out Of The Box, London’s JetTricks release this double A side, limited edition forty five with two of the tracks from said record. The full length was a wild ride of diverse genres cooked up specifically to get your blood (and feet) moving, but also to showcase their broad range of influences and abilities as musicians and producers. The first A side is a blistering cover of Calvin Richardson’s “More Than A Woman”. For this track, they collaborated with Detroit born Marcus Malone. A leading voice on the European blues music scene, Malone and the boys charge up the dance floor with this belter. This tune is a stomper if we ever heard one, and the duo have done well with this reworking. Upbeat and stormy, give this a round of applause please. This could definitely be your secret weapon in your record box for sure. For the double A side, they linked up with award winning blues singer Katie Bradley, who’s sung along side legends like Gino Washington and Georgie Fame (among others), to rework Johnny “Guitar’ Watson’s “Lovin’ You”. This slow moving and emotional version of this song (check out the haunting organ in the background), takes you back to some smokey rooms, neat whiskeys, and late nights at the best juke joint in town. Bradley’s voice sends her siren’s song out to the seas of soul lovers, luring them in, but instead embracing each and every one rather than dash them to bits on the rocks. Wow, that was dramatic, but really, her voice can move you like that. This limited edition seven inch deservedly so gets a Double A side because both tracks are that good. Perfect for getting the dance floor rocking, or the flip for the late night wind down, JetTricks nail a brace with this release. Check out both tracks below:
