Taking a break from the excellent Origu releases we have seen coming out, the chaps at Our Label Records return to the funk on this cracker of a forty five with The King Rooster featuring Florelie Escano and the single “Gator Jerky” b/w “Ain’t Got Time For That”. The King Rooster hail from London, UK and do a bang up job of dropping some heavy Hammond funk sides on their debut for the label. “Gator Jerky” is a funky jaunt through the swamps of Louisiana with a stop in ‘Nawlins for some of that tasty dried meat treat that you just have to get when you visit. Thumping drums and Hammond grooves that absolutely make you move are as authentic as it comes. Hammond organ fans will stand up and rejoice. The flip, featuring the vocal brilliance of Florelie Escano is a sister funk side that screams F-U-N-K! loud and clear. A great vocal side with more Hammond goodness all around. Winner winner gator dinner.
You definitely will have time for this track. It’s great to see the Our Records crew dropping some new funk, just like the old funk we have grown to love and covet from this label. Sure to be a future classic, you need this funky crawl in your record box.
