Soopasoul – Pushin’ Weight b/w Brand Nu

Back after a five year plus hiatus, the fantastic funkster returns with a high energy forty five on the acclaimed Japapeno label. Danny Bennett aka Soopasoul drops “Pushin’ Weight”, a must have seven that is part car chase, part T Plays It Cool’s step brother, part cinema soundtrack fuzz, and all parts funky. With plenty of horns and jangly guitar over a big back beat, this record will not only have you dancing in your seat but the masses dancing int he streets way better than Bowie/ Jagger (or even Van Halen) did. The flip, “Brand Nu” is a big time Northern Soul inspired sing a long from start to finish and is on 45 for the first time. Another side to get your feet moving with or without the baby powder. Both sides of the seven are something we like to hear: deep funk that grabs you by the neck and pulls you into the groove, and a funky soul flip that has you both singing and dancing until the lights go on.
