‘Cause lyrics are weak like clock radio speakers….but not this seven inch box set from Universal, which highlights four 45s and celebrates everything that is Liquid Swords is most definitely not weak. Your favorite GZA record gets the deluxe treatment: four picture sleeve seven inch records that feature the original 12″ artwork of “I Got Ya Back”, “Liquid Swords”, “Cold World”, and “Shadowboxin’/ 4th Chamber”. The set will also feature five 15.75” x 10.25” high end art prints by artist Andrew Hem, who provides us with a new visual interpretation of the songs individually, as well as a 7″ x & inch book that reprints the GZA’s interview in Wax Poetics and a total breakdown of the four records included. Everything is housed in an over sized art box with a unique easel back and display window (You know, so you can display this mufucka in your record room). A very limited number of the 500 sets also includes a GZA autograph as well as two practice swords. This box runs deep no doubt and is a must for all GZA and Wu fans.
The GZA has been celebrated before with deluxe, limited edition chess sets and wood block prints, but in our opinion, this is the best GZA related set that has released. There will only ever be one Wu tang Clan and its affiliates. These classic records deserved to be preserved and explored further, and this is the right way.
