Once again Boogieburg Records come correct with another release, their fifth to be exact. This time it’s Washington, DC area band Empresarios. Led by bandleader and music industry vet Javier Miranda, who has racked up two decades plus of touring with bands such as See-I, Thievery Corporation, and Fort Knox Five among others, their Tropicaliente sound is just what we need here on a Monday morning. I mean, who couldn’t use some hot and heavy inspiration on a seven inch to start the week off?
Both sides of number five are terrific. “Morena” is the dance floor filler here, with a genuine Caribbean beach vibe from start to finish. This one definitely will make you move, and for that matter, any one who gets it in their ears. The flip, “The Vibes” features Miami via Columbia’s Ephniko, who throws in a reggae party vibe (pun intended) complete with Spanish hip hop styles while Empresarios get to work behind him. This record is lively on both sides. We always say that it’s all about the vibe, and both Empresarios and Boogieburg prove it on this releae. Pure summer sun sounds for sure. Both sides scream party, and we know that everyone digs a party. Hang in there, summer is almost here. This release comes hand stamped in an antique green sleeve aka “old style”.
