Alba & The Mighty Lions – La Verdad

Always innovating, always taking you on some kind of musical journey, Names You Can Trust is again back with a record that you’ll most definitely want to get your hands on. This time they have collabed with Alba & The Mighty Lions for a cut that is both sweet and heavy. With vocals from the siren Alba Ponce de León, who came up backing various Daptone artists such as Naomi Shelton and Charles Bradley, as well as being a driving force The Resistance Revival Chorus, this combination of ’60’s surf, low rider soul, and psychedelic sounds is just another arrow in the quiver of the mighty NYC Trust. With a finger on the pulse of music in the New York City Underground and their ears to global movements, the label keeps topping themselves with releases like this. The sultry and serious vocals of Alba, who lures you in with a voice that you well no doubt be hearing more from, will get stuck in your head for days. As for the band, they’re tight and on time, and only make this 45 that much better. The flip, “Esperando”, a haunting, organ driven psychedelic soul track, chugs slowly down the tracks to your own soul, Alba’s voice and Billy Aukstik’s trumpet to help guide the way as the rest of The Mighty Lions roll down the tracks as well. A double side of heat once again coming from the NYC streets right to your ears. Stream both tracks below:
