Bristol UK jazz rock veterans Get The Blessing return with a video for their track “Sunwise” off the new record Bristopia dropping September 21st. Formed in 1999 and comprised of members of Portishead (Jim Barr bass, Clive Deamer drums), as well as Jake McMurchie (on sax and electronics) and Pete Judge (trumpet and electronics), the band has had quite a ride, forging new pathways and catching the ears of many fans in the international scene. This new record pays tribute to everything Bristol, from past nightlife in the know hot spots to the city’s one way system to buildings, its architecture, and bits and bobs in between. Also getting help on the record from collaborator Adrian Utley and pedal-steel guitarist Margerethe Bjorklund, they expand on the band’s delightful sound, adding depth and more character where they see fit.
Today we premiere the video for the track “Sunwise”, a dreamy jazz rock journey that runs the gamut from free form jazz sounds to chilled out rock on a funky tip. With plenty of percussion and an easy vibe, this tune grows on you instantly. Well worth it to explore this group further. If Getting The Blessing aren’t on your radar, they should be. Definitely more to come from this seasoned band of sound champions.
