The remix. The rework. The re-lick. Words to describe this record, and in true reggae fashion, Big Crown Records finally get the great Lee Fields on a reggae rhytym. Although it took a minute, this is the perfect pairing, with El Michels Affair, reggae champion Nick Movshon, and Lee getting down on the classic Lee Fields and The Expressions side “Never Be Another You”. It is an instant hit and a future classic, extending that Summer vibe as we start to get into Old Man Winter’s back yard and play space shortly. Fields is spot on and rides that rhythm like no other. His soulful crooning flows perfectly in a reggae style. Another feather in the cap of a man who can do it all and continues to push his career in new directions. Of course, when EMA is involved, the job gets done like Big Daddy Kane: they go to work. Is there anything this record label can not do? Even on the flip side, more fresh production. The B is a proper version of the A, just as you’d imagine it recorded in early ’70’s Jamaica. On point reverb, echo, and those horns hit the spot. Great work by the Big Crown team once again.
