PREMIERE: Izo FitzRoy – Glory Days

For their tenth installment of their most popular music series Japaleno Funk, the label once again raises the bar with a compilation that fires on all cylinders, ticks all the boxes, and leaves the listener in a much better mood then before they put on the record. Tracks by The Allergies, Soopasoul, Dr. Rubberfunk, Basement Freaks, and Smoove and Turrell, among others open up the curtains and let the sun aka the music shine right in. Today we are premieringa track from this compilation by Izo Fitzroy. “Glory Days”, produced by the multi-talented Shawn Lee (Am & Shawn Lee, Shawn Lee’s Ping Pong Orchestra, Young Gun Silver Fox), Fitzroy reaches into her deep bag of soul, blues, and gospel influences and brings out a soulful banger that works not just on the dance floor, but easily persuades your ears to follow along with this snappy tune filled with vocal harmonies and beautiful sounds that let you know why she is here to stay. Mixing a ’60’s soul style with catchy lyrics (“Holding back the dawn with the radio on/ Living life endlessly) and a smooth bounce to it, “Glory Days” is not a throwback, more like a tribute to this sound. Fitzroy knows what the deal is, and the deal is pretty damn good. Jalapeno Records prove once again (and in its tenth installment) that they can be as diverse as they want to be and still rock the house. Out on 12/14 on Jalapeno. Check out the track below.
