El-Jay Burner – My Thing

Today we have some goodness from the Fabyl camp. It’s their first single, and we are pretty much in love with it. The South London dynamic duo of Leroy Smokes and Jimmy Plates, vocals and producer respectively, are El-Jay Burner. Introduced by mutual collaborator Si Spex aka Barry Beats, these two are doling out a big, fat slice of hip hop that could have originated in Shaolin, not South London. But it is South London, and with a wonderful and soulful Jamaican vocal, it’s a winner in our book. But if that’s not enough, it was mastered by hip hop royalty and Firehouse Studios founder Yoram Vazan, who was the mix engineer for Wu-Tang, Mobb Deep, Gangstarr, and other legends. This thing is a burner. Slow, grimy, and with such heavy beats, “My Thing” is slowly becoming one of our favorite tracks this Summer. Appropriate for that back yard BBQ, late night jam, or for that cruise in the whip, we are co-signing this record +100. It’s one record that will be getting a lot of spins all over the globe. Not sure? Listen to the single and the dub version below and let us know what you think.
