The Pendletons – Running Away

It’s Friday, so when this new track from The Pendletons came through, we had to let y’all know we are feeling it. The new single, “Running Away” is from their forthcoming long player “2 Steps Away” and it screams Summertime from start to finish. Recruiting the best of the best musicians in the Bay Area, their forthcoming Lp 2 Steps Away, out on Bastard Jazz in the spring, is just a continuation of all the dope music they have been putting out from the start. Trailor Limon and Eric Boss grabbed players ELive (Star Creature) and guitarist Carl Locket (Rick James. Shalamar) among others to really lay it down on this project. The new record is nine songs long, and gives us authentic boogie/ soul sounds from the ’70’s and early ’80’s funk moves to keep the whole thing just classic enough. The latest song “Running Away” is a feel good track musically, but if anyone can have lyrics that talk about fussing and fighting and make it sound this good it’s The Pendletons. This boogie/ funk monster is synth heavy, with drums that had our shoulders shrugging the whole time we were writing this. “Running Away” is a not just a record, it’s a feeling, with a nice big nod to Fonda Rae in the lyrics for those who in the know. We’re excited for the new record and like we said when we reviewed their first single “Do You” (featuring Howard Johnson), big things are on the horizon. This new track is further proof. Stream the song below and pre-order after the stream. The Pendletons are in the building, what!
