DJ Center – Dem Say Ah (Akoya Re-Rub)

Ending the week off with a bang, we’ve got the new certified BANGER from the homie DJ Center and Akoya Afrobeat. If you dig the afrobeat sound, then you know doubt know the original version of this track. It’s been in the arsenal of many a disk jock including Gilles Peterson, Bobbito, Nightmares On Wax, and Mitsu The Beats among others. I’m sure there are a few of you out there holding this dance floor burner as well. That being said, the original, long gone and out of print record goes for mucho cheddar folks. On this very forty five presented today, you have two versions: The live “Akoya Re-Rub” mix, that was mixed by Grammy winning engineer Ben Kane (D’angelo’s Black Messiah) and cut to two inch tape in Brooklyn, NYC at Electric Gardens Studio. But wait, Center is giving you more. How about the flip is the edit of the original 7″ by DJ Spinna featuring Ticklah, who’s always on the scene (Antibalas, Sharon Jones, Mark Ronson) on keys? Both sides are guaranteed to get any party started, and if somebody is wall hugging, just point to the door and smile. Then go back to dancing yourself. A monster in its own right, these two relicks of the classic are a stone cold groove. The forty five comes housed in a hand stamped sleeve and is ready to rock the floor. Listen to the track below and order after the stream. Center coming correct once again with the heat.
