Look, let’s face it, reggae is one of the best genres in music. If you have a problem with reggae, we need to question the way you’re living your life. With its many facets of simplicity and complexity, as well as sounds that rocked the dance floor and dance hall from the very inception, we feel like it’s never going to go away. In fact, there has been so much output in reggae music that you could remain in the late ’70’s and ’80’s and be stuck there for a long, long time before you even got close to running out. So today, it’s twelve inch Thursday, and the great Athens Of The North give us the third installment of their latest Lovers Rock series with a classic cover from that era. Originally done by the great Donny Hathaway and Roberta Flack, they take two of the best lovers singers to ever bless the microphone, Jean Adebambo and Trevor Walters to give us their incredible version. This one is remastered and reissued for the first time since it was dropped in ’88 on Student. AOTN really get specific not just with the record itself, but with the OG Dub Vendor disco sleeve which a lot of you heads will appreciate. If you’re not familiar with this track, then get familiar because this is one of the finest pieces of Lovers Rock to ever grace your turntable. We back that up and so does Athens Of The North. Obviously, that’s why they got this monster on wax here in 2019. Listen to the vocal and version of the track below and purchase it from their bandcamp after the stream. It’s a dope track. Back together again, got the world in a spin, Athens Of The North has done it once more.
