Here’s some morning juice for you from old stalwarts of the scene the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble. Working with everyone from Wu-Tang Clan to Erykah BAdu to Gorillaz to Tony Allen to Snoop Dogg, and more, they are back once again with the heat. With a little glimpse of some of the music coming from the new effort Bad Boys of Jazz, slated for release on March 20th, they bring us “Indigo”. These pioneers of modern brass music do no waste any time with this single, as they get right into it in a big way. Heavy, heavy sounds from start to finish on this track people. It’s an almost five-minute ride of analog grooves with a brass sound that one can never get tired of. If making you move your body was required by law, the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble would be the leaders of the land. Ebbs and flows, highs and lows, plus a sweet ass breakdown, this track has it all. Would you expect anything less? Their CV tells a story from the very start. The story of a band that has persevered to be one of the go-to bands in the industry for this sound. If this sample is any indication of what we’re in for with the full length, then hold on to your headphones people, these cats are going for the gold. So far it’s just indigo, but by the time the full length is done playing, it’ll be solid gold. Check out the track below on the bandcamp stream and order it after the stream. HBE for a big win once again!
