Ill Boogs x Shelley Mack Band – Tilling The Soul

Here’s a project that will peak a lot of interest with the Flea Market Funk family. Two old school B-Boys, Ill Boogs and Shelly Mack, inspired by the original breaks records (pre-hip hop block parties) in the 1970s, have put together an all-instrumental record called Tilling The Soil. Their mutual love for the music and everything that goes with it, all styles from the previous close to fifty years is all put together in this huge dose of 13 funky percussion filled killers. It’s their take on the style of the genre-crossing style of music and the Ultimate Break Beat era (shout out Lenny & Lou!) that has influenced so many people throughout the years. While both Ill Boogs and Shelly Mack have different styles in their production, it’s the love for this era and the music that brought them together for this project. Ill Boogs has released underground bangers on Breakin’ Bread while Shelly Mack, formerly of Knowledge of Self Crew, has been a breaks and hip hop DJ that has fully shaped the Brighton, UK hip hop scene throughout the ’90s. Forming like Voltron this duo really hit the nail on the head with the project. If you dif drums, fatback percussion, and getting down on the floor, then you’ll love this record.
The two of these cats get it and deliver the authentic sound of what was being laid down in the early ’70s on the block. This is a pre-press pre-order. Got it? The closing date for pre-orders is the start of the manufacturing process which takes around 8-12 weeks plus delivery. That to us is well worth the wait! The first one hundred people to order the pre-order project will get their name included in the Thank You section of the record’s rear sleeve and entered into a drawing to win all kinds of goodies such as 5 test pressings of previous 45 releases: Gypsy Rock TP, King Conga TP, This One TP, Call Me TP and Ancient Artefacts / Seven Five TP. Sounds like a good deal over here. This one is going to be all time, so don’t sleep!
