Feeling This Friday: Boca 45 – Boca’s Rarities And B Sides

The name Boca 45 is synonymous with chunky beats, on-point scratching, European festivals, and deep crate-digging among other things (Let’s face it, he’s a decent footballer too!). The Bristol, UK legend who has grown from manning the counter at the now-infamous Purple Penguin record shop in the ’90s to touring the world over and collabing with everyone from DJ Andy Smith to Geoff Barrow to Banksy and more. His precise mixes (live and recorded) of hip hop, funk, soul, psych, soundtracks, breaks, and more make him an in-demand commodity on the DJ circuit. His production work has long been used via television, cinema, and the like. In other words, his original productions are on time and on point and have been that way for years. Boca’s amassed a quality discography throughout the years and he’s offering up a new Rarities and B Sides release today.

I’ve gathered a bunch of a “Boca Big Drum Beaters” for you. Focused on nuggets in the vaults from the 00’s. Cut & Paste vibes for DJs / dancers and listeners alike. Most of these tracks have never been available digitally.

Boca 45

These twelve tracks come right out of the vaults of The Shed from the ’00s and the majority of them have not even been available digitally at all. Focusing on the DJ and dancer, there’s also something for everyone in this grip of “big drum beaters”. Heavy on the drums, the cut and paste style of production is chock full of drums that knock hard, samples that raise eyebrows, and of course grooves that make you want to get up and move. This innovator and mainstay in the Bristol scene is offering up some gems as well as some other bits and bobs on his bandcamp page. Stream below and support by purchasing after the stream.
