Starting the week off with some goodness from soul stirrer Johnny Burgos out of Brooklyn. With some help from Leo Coltrane and produced by DJ Skizz, he comes correct with a new single “The Grey”. Burgos has always kept a steady pace with influences that range from D’Angelo to Outkqst to MJ and more, releasing dope tracks from start to finish. This new release (and accompanying video) is a great example of the man’s talent.

I was halfway done with this record when the pandemic hit. It forced me to reconnect to a more purposeful and creative existence, accepting life’s discomfort and ambiguity as simply part of the process. I reframed a ‘grey area,’ and it was incredibly inspiring. I took it day by day, showed up purposefully, passionately, persistently into the grey, and I discovered a newfound freedom to create beyond the inner-critic.
