Soul Sugar Feat. Booker Gee & Blundetto: Cool Down

It’s Friday and of course we are definitely feeling the music today. In fact, when we got the new Soul Sugar single, we felt like the warmer weather was really coming upon us. You see, Soul Sugar have a knack for really giving us some tracks that make you think of a white, sandy beach, a tall, cool glass of some sort of libation, a sunset, and just feeling good without a care in the world. Even though the world is very different now, there’s nothing that can take this feeling away from us. Let’s get into this new project.

Teaming up with French artists Blundetto (if you have not yet checked the man’s body of work out, what are you waiting for?) and Blackjoy,  Guillaume “Gee” Metenier aka Booker Gee give us an anthem for the Summer in “Cool Down”. To celebrate the forthcoming release of their new album, Excursions in Soul, Reggae, Funk & Dub, Guillaume Metenier’s Soul Sugar collective has offered up a brand-new, digital-only single, ‘Cool Down’. Bright and sunny and built just for the sun filled days, the track is a modern day dub that adds the old and new into its recipe. With a pinch of Booker Gee’s synth and organ, and Blundetto’s guitars (plus bass, percussion and drums) this one is surely a keeper. Moving through like a long afternoon on the beach in Jamaica, this is one of the unheard of tracks from the forthcoming Excursions In Soul, Reggae, Funk, and Dub. It’s a collection of unheard of sides as well as a bunch of singles that were released over the years. These include reggae covers of Marvin Gaye and Luther Vandross and others Metenier has put out with the Soul Sugar collective. Always on time and on point, this group of tracks is a joy. Listen to “Cool Down” below and grab the track after the stream. The project comes out June 4th.
