Nimbus Sextet: Helix

Hot off of their Dreams Fulfilled record, Glasgow jazz outfit Nimbus Sextet return once again with a new EP that will surely raise eyebrows. Helix, a four song project features two new tracks as well as two remixes, pushing this innovative band to higher ground.

The core idea for Helix was to bring together the three interlocking parts in an exciting and effective way to create an episodic jazz tune that draws on many different contemporary styles

Along with their live, more upbeat of the Yussef Kamaal’s tune “Lowrider” a top billin’ and certified jazz/ funk classic nowinjected with gusto and a higher pace, the record also features the title track “Helix” and two older tracks remixed. “Helix”, the record opener is a jazz funk grooves with pieces of gospel, neo-soul and late 1960’s jazz fusion. The aforementioned “Lowrider” goes from zero to one hundred rather quickly, keeping some dance floor paces all the way through from the beginning to the end. Their tune “Trap Door” is remixed by Born74, and digger/ producer extraordinaire Chris Read puts his touches on “Deep Dark Blue Light”. Stream the track “Lowrider” and pre-order after the stream. This one’s available on September 3rd. More heat for your turntables and ears. Check it out.
