Back after a two year hiatus (like most of the bloody world) and basically the longest they break have ever taken in the band’s 24 year history (due to strict COVID-19 lockdowns), Cookin’ On 3 Burners returns with a heat rock of a double-sided forty five. This thing actually cooks, and to be honest, we’re just glad this band is back and firing on all cylinders right now.
“The World Is Cold” features vocalist Jane Tyrrell and hip hop icon mantra, who combined with the chaps from Cookin’ On 3 Burners put together the masses after this very long period of the pandemic, lockdown, and the uncertainty of what’s next. This collaboration is more than fruitful and it should fire up not just the dance floor, but really people’s thought on what’s been going on. Moving to the B-Side, they tackle yet another cover (Gary Numan, Metallica, Gorillaz) and do a bang up, funky interpretation of the Mos Def classic “Ms. Fat Booty”. Heavy and on point with the “One Step Ahead” sample, this reinterpretation is bad ass. It does the track justice and still shows that Cookin’ On 3 Burners have still got the minerals to keep our heads nodding and our bodies moving late into the night wherever we are.
