Feeling This Friday: Figure of Speech – Stand Firm

It’s Friday and we’re sharing what we’ve been feeling. This project is something that we particularly are excited about. The mighty Boca 45 has joined up with Bristol emcee Figure of Speech to put out a record that is not just pure heat but makes you step back and think.

The Manchester raised, Bristol based MC/Poet links up with the big drum beater Boca 45 on “Stand Firm”. Stand Firm is an anti-racist album and gives a musical voice to the experience of Figure of Speech after a live performance of poetry directly after the murder of George Floyd and speaks to the topic of racism in Britain and abroad. There is no denying that we have a racism problem not just here in the united States, the UK, and all over the world. With an excellent choice of of samples and finely crafted beats, this pair push out a heartfelt, real world message to the masses. Listen closely to the lyrics and emotion in what Figure of Speech is saying:

Stand firm, don’t turn round
They say go back, but I stand ground
This is my world, so damn it, it’s my town
I won’t hold back, no I won’t go down
This is a showdown, you understand clown?
I may be featherweight, but taking out you heavyweights
Watch me levitate, stresses evaporate
Try to assassinate? Good luck mate

This one is a limited edition of 250 units, so like most of Boca’s production, mixes, 45s, etc., they go quick. Stream the project below and buy it after. This one we are definitely feeling this Friday. One.
