Soundtrack: The Story Of The DJ

This is a documentary we are looking forward to seeing. In 2014, DJ Zimmie started a Kickstarter campaign for the project which we featured on FleaMarket Funk. Now the project is coming to fruition. Soundtrack: The Story Of The DJ is an inside look at the DJ life. The best part about it is that it’s done by a DJ. Zimmie is a talented selector and traveling DJ that has been a part of the culture for a long time. So the perspective of the film is from someone who knows the life, who knows the struggle, and best yet, knows exactly the questions to ask (plus has the connections to make it official). Filled with interviews with DJ Greats such as DJ Premier, Jazzy Jeff, Q-Bert, Z-Trip, Danny Krivit, A-Trak, DJ P, the film takes a look the evolution of DJs on the radio DJs, turntablists, DJ who are producers, DJs in hip hop groups, and DJs being the main attractions and headlining worldwide festival, and more. This film gives a great view of just how far the DJ has come from all aspects of the word. A DJ today in the public eye is much different that the original dee jay. All bases covered here, and we’re excited to bring you the first official trailer of the film.
